‘CONCERTO TABULA RASA’
Double Concerto for Symphony Orchestra, Piano and Choral Ensemble or Soloist

It was originlly Ms. Knezkova-Hussey's intention to compose a work dedicated to the people of New Brunswick, Canada. However, after the horror of September 11th, 2001, and reflecting upon the past and ongoing turmoil of the world, she felt compelled to dedicate a work to the larger global community.

The title, 'TABULA RASA' is a Latin phrase, which means, literally, 'to erase or clean the slate'. Ms. Knezkova-Hussey uses this title to express her hope that the world can 'erase' the bad-will and conflict of the past and write a new, and peaceful message on the 'slate' of the world. As she has traveled throughout much of Europe, the Middle East, South America, Africa, Australia and North America, to concertize and lecture, Ms. Knezkova-Hussey has become a true citizen of the world, and has had the privilege of knowing people from many cultures, religions, and countries. She knows first hand, that all that most people desire is a world free of conflict in which to raise their families in peace and in love.

The Concerto is Ludmila's attempt to outline the world's history, from the peaceful days of creation, through the violence and destruction of war throughout the centuries. It is Ludmila'a wish that the citizens of the world work to erase the record of animosities, and hatred that has been written on the face of this planet over the millennium, and to establish a new common ground of peace, harmony and hope. There is a wonderful Prayer for Peace, a poem which was written at the request of Ms. Knezkova-Hussey, especially for this Concerto, by New Brunswick's eminent poet, Douglas Lochhead. The Concerto ends with Ludmila's plea that we will, indeed, start with a clean slate, and offer to the generations to come after us, a world free of the terror and destruction of war.
